The township projects typically partner with a Smart City to extend the reach of the network and its services to the city’s surrounding townships.

The project is a private initiative that provides low cost mobile voice, internet and video services to sub-economic communities. This will allow unlimited toll-free local calls for R39 (US$ 4.00) per month, and calls for 10c (US$ 0.01) per minute nationally from the UniNet Mobile phone. The mobile handset also allows internet browsing and access to free content such as educational sites, e-government sites and selected commercial sites.
